seriously, I fail to see what is so laugh-out-loud-able about a 3-month-old's missing penis. If you consider that his mother actually paid a man to chop it off--double O and 7, Junior and the Twins (whatever colourful way you could possibly understand this)--you would be shaking in your boots and grabbing your balls just to make sure they are still more…

'corper' is a general noun around here used for corps members. The paramilitary setup is actually known in full as National Youth Service Corps, kind of like national military service in the US or Ghana.
I feel so good to hear you actually read all 25 days of the journal. I feel great to have shared this with you. Thanks.

I prefer Eighteenth century English swearing myself, colourful terms like, "shittenly crackfart" or scablouse are much more fun. And of course it being the Eighteenth century such words were dressed up in elaborately crafted insults.
Modern swearing lacks style. more…

Wow sanjules, what an extraordinary experience at the paramilitary camp! I assure you I read all 25 days of your journal.
I presume 'corper' is the shortened term for corporal. The PT régime and unrealistic hours were dehumanising. Glad the corpers got the better of the commandant.

Hi Sanjules
I found the capital letters difficult to scan, but I persevered.
Brent crude has fallen almost US$3 a barrel to $64.89 since late last week, after an agreement by International Energy Agency states to kick in emergency stocks.
Prices at petrol pumps in NZ are still sky-high and everyone is grumbling. more…

The hooligans who demand protection money sound as bad as the Italian mafia or the thugs preying on the weak in the aftermath of Hurrican Katrina in New Orleans.

If you think about it, the Hindus gave us the Kama Sutra, and what about those erotic carvings found all over the sub continent.
Perhaps the horbyfication of Bollywood is evidence that India has as last completely shaken off the dead hand of the British Raj.

Hi there,
Its not just Indians who do that, I have had such experiences with people from all over the world! The first thins they want to know is your sex and then whether your are single. The moment they know you are married or something, they just disappear like gadhe ke sar se seeng (its an indian saying, meaning like horns from a donkey' more…

Agree with you about arranged marriages but I would somehow prefer to know the person I am marrying to rather than having a total suspense unfold on my wedding night!!
When I say know the person, I dont mean physical intimacy. Courtship doesnt always consist of "bouncing bodies...." stuff, especially you live in India.
How can you agre more…

Arranged marriages, acceptable within some cultures are totally repugnant in others.
We believe that girls should be career minded after college and not have the threat of early marriage and pregnancies hanging over them.
For a woman, choosing her own partner and marrying on a more mature basis can mean contributing inte more…

Interesting stuff. I often argue with American fundamentalists at a site I use, they demand absolute adherence to the literal truth of the Bible and hate any questioning of the idea that humans are created solely for the purpose of glorifying God.
I am going to link one of my posts there to this item.
