I presume 'corper' is the shortened term for corporal. The PT régime and unrealistic hours were dehumanising. Glad the corpers got the better of the commandant.
Its not just Indians who do that, I have had such experiences with people from all over the world! The first thins they want to know is your sex and then whether your are single. The moment they know you are married or something, they just disappear like gadhe ke sar se seeng (its an indian saying, meaning like horns from a donkey's head).
I am an Indian and have never given a damn about these things. But maybe because ours is a populous country, Indians are proportionately more frequent to find online. A handful of people cant make or break a nation's image at least for me, and unless you have been to a place yourself you won't know what the people there are really like.
When I say know the person, I dont mean physical intimacy. Courtship doesnt always consist of "bouncing bodies...." stuff, especially you live in India.
How can you agree to spend your entire life with someone without having talked to them? Its very important to know if think at the same wavlength, and whether you could be friends before coming lovers or husband-wife. After all that raw passion will fizz out after some years and the only thing that will kwwp you together is your love that grows out of friendship and understanding. In arranged marriage, by the time you start to understand the person, you already have had kids and before you realise you are not compatible mentally, its far too late. The reason why divorces were rare in India because couples were used to compromises, either because of social stigma with divorce or because they had kids.
The bottomline is whether it is a "pyaar ki shaadi" or an arranged marriage, the foundation should be trust and understanding rather than raw passion or a suspense.

We believe that girls should be career minded after college and not have the threat of early marriage and pregnancies hanging over them.

For a woman, choosing her own partner and marrying on a more mature basis can mean contributing intelligently, power sharing within the family unit and controlling circumstances of her own life.

So where there are arranged marriages it's OK for a male to lose his virginity beforehand, and like a bull in a paddock, go on for heifer after heifer!
